Children can, and do, experience mental, social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that can impact their ability to make friends, get along at home, and succeed in school.  PFCS offers an array of services specially designed to engage kids from birth to age 18 and assist caregivers in more effectively managing problem behavior. Using age-appropriate techniques, including individual, group, family, and play therapy, our expert staff helps families address issues of concern, and overcome children’s behavioral and emotional challenges. Some of the services offered include:

  • Play therapy
  • Children's social skills development
  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma or are depressed
  • DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) groups for adolescents

Children's Crisis Response Program: PFCS is also the primary, recognized resource for children and adolescents in emergency situations throughout Putnam County. Trained clinicians are available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, to assist with an immediate assessment and evaluation.  In the event of tragic events in the community or across the country, PFCS clinicians are available to provide counseling and guidance in our local schools on how to cope with resulting fears, anxieties and emotions.
